When you reach out to The Bridge for help-for yourself or someone you know-many services are available to meet your individual needs.

All services are provided without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, handicap, sexual orientation, religion, political beliefs or immigration status. Services are available in English and Spanish.

24-Hour Crisis and Information Hotline


Call our 24-hour crisis and information hotline: 713.473.2801. All calls are confidential. If you are in immediate danger, call 911.

Hotline advocates are there for you. They can schedule an appointment with a caseworker who can provide further assistance, offer referrals to other services in the community, provide helpful information, or just listen. Back to top

 

Shelter and Housing Services

Emergency Shelter is a safe place for you and your children to take refuge from abuse, homelessness or another crisis. You will receive support in a comforting environment with a variety of options to help you meet your needs and take steps toward a bright future. The shelter serves 75 women and children daily.

Program Focus
The goals of the Emergency Shelter Program are to empower families to achieve safety, understand their options, break the cycle of homelessness and/or violence, and rebuild their lives.

Long-term Housing helps individuals and families leaving an emergency shelter to attain a healthy, independent life. Rental assistance and support services are offered to empower families to become self-sufficient. Services are available for 47 families either at Destiny Village, a specially designed apartment complex, or at partnering apartment complexes throughout the community.

Program Focus
The goals of the Long-term Housing Program are (1) to assist women and children in healing from abusive situations and in developing healthy lives free from violence and (2) to empower families to achieve self-sufficiency. Back to top

Children’s Program/Childcare

All resident families can participate in Bridge Children's Programs:

Program Focus
The goal of the Childcare Component is to advance the health and growth of children in crisis by offering quality services and skill development programs in a safe, stable setting.
The goal of the Children’s Advocacy Component is to help children overcome the crises in their lives and address developmental gaps or delays. Back to top

Education and Prevention Services

The Bridge's education department constantly strives to build relationships with the diverse community of southeast Harris County to raise awareness about the issues of domestic violence, sexual assault and homelessness. Through these relationships, individuals and families are learning that lives free from violence are possible and that help is available.

The Bridge is available to:

Professional Training
The Bridge provides staff development and technical assistance to law enforcement, healthcare providers, educators, social service providers and companies regarding the issues of domestic violence, sexual harassment and sexual assault to equip professionals to identify and serve families in crisis effectively and with sensitivity.

Healthy Relationship Program
The Bridge provides age-appropriate prevention education to elementary, secondary and post-secondary students in schools and other organizations serving youth.

Program Focus
The goals of this department are to prevent abuse by educating the community including youth and children about the myths, realities, and root causes of family violence and sexual assault; train professionals to identify and effectively serve victims of abuse; provide a safe atmosphere for victims of abuse to seek help; and provide awareness of agency services.
